Results from a new study suggest that depression may take as many years off sufferers' lives as smoking. Researchers looked at death records and a survey of more than 60,000 people and found that during the four years after the survey, people who were depressed had a higher death rate than people who weren't depressed. However, a combination of anxiety and depression appeared to be better for people's longevity than depression alone.
