A three-in-one "polypill"--aimed at reducing the financial and practical burden for patients--will launch in Spain in 2009. The pill combines a cholesterol-lowering drug (which experts suspect to be simvastatin, the generic of Zocor), a blood-pressure drug, and aspirin and is designed to prevent second heart attacks. Though the pill will be launched first in Spain and China, makers hope to eventually win regulatory approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
