What Is Atrovent Used For

A new study suggests that patients who take Atrovent for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease may be more likely to die of a heart attack. The study compared several treatments for COPD, including short-acting beta-agonists only, Atrovent only, and inhaled corticosteroids plus Atrovent. Inhaled corticosteroids and long-acting beta-agonists both reduced the risk of dying from any cause. Atrovent was associated with a 34 percent increase in the risk for cardiovascular death.
