Nicotine patch before quitting may double success rate

Researchers at the Duke Center for Nicotine and Smoking Research say that using a patch before quitting may double the likelihood of success. They found that smokers who used a patch before the quit date were more likely to spontaneously reduce the number of daily cigarettes than those who did not use the patch. They also suggest that many smokers don't use a patch because current labels say people shouldn't smoke while wearing one, and the researchers say perhaps nicotine patch labels should be changed.  Read full story >
