Onsolis approved for severe cancer pain

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved a new opioid painkiller called Onsolis for patients with severe cancer-related pain. According to FDA officials, Onsolis delivers the narcotic fentanyl through an absorbable film that sticks to the inside of the patient's cheek. Onsolis is only cleared for use adult cancer patients who already use opioid pain medications around the clock and who need additional pain relief.
