How nicotine tricks the brain

Nicotine tricks the brain into forming memories between smoking behavior and environmental cues, researchers say. This may explain why even former smokers crave a cigarette in bars, at parties, or right after meals. Researchers say that normally this reward signal in the brain is used in order to reward positive behaviors, but nicotine appears to cause the same signal.  Read full story >
