Smoking may be more dangerous for women

A growing body of research suggests that women may be more susceptible to the negative effects of tobacco than men. One study found that women who developed lung cancer were younger when they received a diagnosis, even if they smoked less than men. And another study of 950 COPD patients had similar results-- women were younger at diagnosis and had smoked less than the male COPD patients who were studied. Researchers aren't sure why there appears to be a gender difference, but some suggest that women and men get different types of lung cancer.
