Nabi Biopharmaceuticals and a unit of GlaxoSmithKline Plc have signed an agreement for an experimental vaccine to treat nicotine addiction. The NicVAX vaccine, which received a $10 million grant from the National Institute of Drug Abuse this fall, is designed to force the body to bind antibodies to nicotine. The companies say the first of the two late-stage clinical trials are expected to begin shortly.
