About Me

For the past forty years, I have produced, written, and directed program material for public and commercial television and the educational/industrial markets. My career, which began in Hollywood, continued in NYC, where I was a producer of over 200 hours of programs for WNET over a nine year period, as well as Director of Programming for that outlet.

My productions include The World Of Abnormal Psychology, 13 one-hour programs for PBS, and Whose Death is it Anyway? a PBS program on end-of-life decision-making. I have made a reputation for myself in the field of hospice and palliative care videos.

I am the author most recently of BLUE GENES: A memoir of Loss and Survival, coming out in September of 2008. Also of Silent Grief: Living in the Wake of Suicide (in its 16th year), Staying in Charge, a handbook of information on end-of-life care (John Wiley & Sons), and, most recently, The First Year: Prostate Cancer. (Marlowe Books).

My contributions to MyDepressionConnection will focus on relating my own life-long depression and that within my family to what I have learned from my work in psychology and from life experiences; how I can help others who may not have seen depression from my particular point of view.
