Thick drinks

Saturday, July 25, 2009 at 04:42 PMDear hamstergirl,
Merely is right you should see a SLP or speech language pathologist and she/he will help you. I think that you should try to go to a hospital if you can because they will try to help you. I have a few friends who are doctors. They have told me that thicker drinks like banana, milk and honey in a blender make a nice thick drink. This will help you to swallow and loose the fear of chocking. Just smal sips of this thick dring should help you though it doesn't always work with everyone. But you can try. It is 90% success.

Hi there
I have been wondering about you lately and how you have been doing. I think if you do have friends out there that you should reach out to them...surely they do want to know how you are doing.
I know some about swallowing problems. I have MS and this can happen with this issue can happen for those of us with this neurological disease too.
Here is some information from the Mayo Clinic about this problem. One of the things they suggest is to see a speech therapist. Is this something which is possible for you to do?
I am sorry this is happening to you...it must be very frightening. I hope things do improve...let us know how you are doing in the days to come.
