I am married. I have no children of any human nature.  Just one furry dog, hence Maceymom. I am new to this site but need to share my feelings.  Please help.

I'm new as well having joined last night.  Just jump in, put your feelings out there, and someone will reply.  I got several responses to my first post within a few hours.  This seems to be a very good community of people who are just looking to get and give support.  I have two furry children, a 5 year old terrier mix and a 4 month old kitten.  They also provide support when I'm blue because they don't care how bad my day was or how down I am.  They're always there with love.  I hope you find this community as beneficial as I have already.

    Thanks Stewie,

I have never in my life felt this way before. I have been on anti depressants for a long time but I don't know what is causing this now. Could be a host of things but I am going to the doctor so he can figure it out.  I just need someone to talk to about it . My husband is very sympathetic but I feel like I am dragging him down too. Thanks for listening

    Hi Judy,

I am 47 years old. Married but have no children, just "Macey". I have been on anti depressants for a while because of my diabetes but now I think my thyroid is out of whack and I might be going through the change. I just know this depression is kicking my butt and I just wanted someone to talk to about it.  I feel like I am dragging my husband down with me.

    Hi Fifi,

Thanks for chatting with me.  I have always loved dogs. My cockapoo Midnight was 21 years old last year and we had to have her put to sleep. We got Macey through a rescue shelter in May of this year.  She is five years old and a Lhasa Opso-Tibetian Terrier mix. The shelter people said she was found abandoned when she was a puppy and then adopted but then she lived in Florida.  It will be interesting to she how she likes the snow in Cincinnati, Ohio this winter. Anywho, the couple that had her moved to Ohio but they had a baby and Macey does not do well around children. They told us when we adopted her that she does not do well around other dogs or small children.

She does have an attitude problem with growling and barking at people when we sit on the porch but I hope to take her in for training for that. She is a joy to have around.

    Hey there MaceyMom!

Thank you for joining our site and welcome.  There is a lot of support here so make yourself at home.

Wanted to say...aren't pets wonderful?  They really do help us with our mental health.  One of the most popular posts on the site was when I got members to talk about their pets.  You can see my photos of my pets too in this Midweek Muse.  Your dog sure is cute.  We have one dog, two kitties, and two hermit crabs right now.  My son wants more pets but I dunno.

You have mentioned that you have diabetes.  Wanted to just tell you that we do have a Diabetes site here if you need support with this.  My mother now has this and I am a little worried.

Anyways...I do hope you write more and tell us about what is going on in your life.  We have all been there as far as battling with depression.  For me it has been a life long battle...I am now nearly 45.  so...we cope by sharing and talking.  It does help.

Thanks for joining the site...hope to hear more from you!

    Dear Merely me,

Yes pets are fantastic. The unconditional love is awesome. I have been married once before but never had any children.  My dogs have always been my babies.

I have been a diabetic for 34 years now but I have never been in great control. I am going to a new doctor now and hopefully he will get me back on track. I think diabetes and depression go hand in hand.

    Hi...pleased to meet you..and Macey!

My mother has had diabetes for years and when I was younger it was very out of control...during these times her brain did not exactly function well. Also more recently when she lived with me for 5years I managed to get her on a good diet and found that a multivitamin with iron helped her a lot.Now I know you might not be able to take some vitamins with some antidepressants so I would advise you to check this out with your doc first. On the menopause front...I had mine early following a hysterectomy and quite literally thought I was dying! It seems my folic acid levels were low so needed some supplements and some time for my body to become fully happy with the new hormone levels! I didn't take HRT as there is a history of breast cancer in the family but took a few Agnas Castus (herbal) tabs along with a multivitamin for a while...but again you would need to check out with a doctor or a herbalist or both what you can and cannot take together and be safe.

Do share any problems you are facing this is a very friendly site and everyone is really supportive and understanding.

Great to hear from you...keep writing.

    Hi Hypno,

It's just hard when all it seems to unravel at once. Once I get my diabetes in control I do have to seem my gynocologist so I can talk to him about any other drugs for the change.

Thanks for answering my post.  I did have a great weekend though, no crying or feeling sorry for myself.
