Hey Deborah!
Great tips here and I have been focusing on these not only to combat stress but my depression symptoms too. I need to do better. Why is this so hard? We know these things are good for us but...like you say...who is craving celery sticks? Each attempt we make though in the right direction is a good start I think.
Thanks so much for the kick in the butt!
Hope you are having a great week. Thank you for all you do here...it is much appreciated.
Hi Deborah,
that was helpful to remind me about stress and what to do....one stressor that seems to be overlooked these days I find is noise! I think people are so accustomed to sirens blaring, car alarms going off, horns honking, trucks and garbage trucks, freeway noise...etc...that many times people are internalizing the stress these noises cause and are not aware of it...
so many people say, oh that, I tune that out...I'm used to it...but I think noise is a big stressor of modern society ....what do you think?
Marishka
Deborah, I found that very informative. my problem is living alone and trying to fill my time [without a job] and with Rheum.Arthritis as well as Depression, means Im not as physically active as I should be. Marishka mentions noise. Allowing for the fact that when Depressed, we become more sensitive. I live on a highway, v close to the road. Last night I went to a friends. Just a normal neighbourhood but the quiet was heavenly, apart from the odd dog barking, kids playing, normal everyday stuff, it was bliss. When I came back it really hit me, the incessant 24/7 noise which is a huge pollution. Unfortunately Im in a position where I cant move as its a Soc. Welfare Home. The constant stream of traffic, even at night, horns beeping, fire engines, Cop cars, kids going by late and shouting, its pretty stressful and I dont think we ever get used to that !
I definitely agree with both of you. I would consider noise a stressor.
