Yesterday I started doing my yoga again. I know it’s hard to believe, but with a couple of Web sites, a 3-year-old son, multiple sclerosis, laundry, housework and countless other responsibilities, I actually have trouble finding time to do it, which is a really big mistake as far as my overall ...

Dear Deborah Your website brings me a lot of comfort. Most people dont understand depression and its effects on your life and that makes it hard. I admire what you're doing and wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your writings. My depression makes me so exhausted I fear to get a job and I suffer anxiety problems too. However reading how you manage your housework; MS, websites, little boy gives me encouragement that I too CAN and will cope. Meanwhile I pray everyday for all of us depressives that God will send a miracle cure and no one will ever need to suffer this curse. Be safe and happy. ***************************** Shiela, Thank you so much for your warm and heartfelt response. I'm glad that the site has been a comfort to you. I think one thing that gives me the strength to handle my MS is that I feel that anything's easier than depression. It's very difficult and frightening when your mind turns against you - more so than when your body does. I know it's difficult to look for a job with depression and anxiety. Take care of yourself as well as possible and remember that you can ask your therapist or psychiatrist for help in your job search and interviews. I wish you much success in your recovery. Deborah

    Hi,

Apparently meditation and deep relaxation is upposed to be the exact counterpart of sress, tension and frustration, thus the best way to release all that pent up emotion. It is hard to believe that all of that can be released without 'physical' activity.

Spend some time being quiet with yourself and ask your body what it needs to release stress and tension. Or perhaps ask your body what creates tension and stress in the first place and then try to eliminate those instigators as much as possible.

Lastly, and this is probably the most effective and simple, is to breathe deeply. Shallow breathing is what we human are used to, whereas very deep breathing opens us up and relaxes us as we progress through the day, probably not allowing the stress to build up in the first place.

Another option could be EFT (emotional freedom technique), which works with the energy points on your body to release blockages. Again, a very simple technique, once understood and memorized, free and you can take it everywhere! For more info, type emofree.com or something like that.

Try, experiment and see what works and what doesn't. it is your body and the answers you seek already exist within you and are most certainly accessable.

    Good luck
