Antidepressant Studies - Getting the Whole Picture

By Deborah Gray, Health Guide Sunday, January 20, 2008

It's disturbing that the process of finding the right antidepressant, which has always been trial and error to a great extent anyway, has been conducted all along with an unknown handicap. It's likely that many doctors will be re-evaluating their approach to treating depression now that they know more about the true success rate of antidepressants. I hope that doctors who handed a depressed patient a prescription for antidepressants without frequent follow-up appointments, trusting in the effectiveness of that prescription, will think twice in the future.
