It's disturbing that the process of finding the right antidepressant, which has always been trial and error to a great extent anyway, has been conducted all along with an unknown handicap. It's likely that many doctors will be re-evaluating their approach to treating depression now that they know more about the true success rate of antidepressants. I hope that doctors who handed a depressed patient a prescription for antidepressants without frequent follow-up appointments, trusting in the effectiveness of that prescription, will think twice in the future.
