I commend you for being so in tuned with what is going on with your medication. You obviously make good use of the time between visits determining what is working, what isn't, and what may be interacting with other things you are taking. I tinker around a lot on the internet and am always fascinated by the side effects and interactions drugs can have. I also am an interest in psychotherapy, so I regularly visit this site as well as others such as www.goodtherapy.org. I have learned a lot and am always interested in other people's stories. I wish you all the best in your journey and will be thinking about you!
Thanks for the post. Ive been lucky enough to wean myself off of anti depressants over the past few years through diet and excercise and regulary seeing a therapist. I'm sure most of you see a tharapist, but I would encourage all of you to start an intensive diet and excersice program, It really helps! Good luck everyone!
Ever since my husband and I started going to marriage counseling in manhattan our counselor recommended that I get on an antidepressant. http://www.robinbryant.com/index.php I have noticed a weight gain since I got on it, but didn't realize it could be caused from the medication. This is good information to know. Thanks for sharing.
I'm glad you have found what appears to be a solution to your weight gain.
I have been on various antidepressants for several years and first noticed a big weight gain after taking Paxil for about 6 months. This was something new to me. I have always been naturally slim and at first I didn't know what was going on. I attributed it to being over forty, but I didn't think I should have gained that much weight in such a short time. Then I read that after you are on Paxil for several months this can be a side effect. I tried other antidepressants and they did the same thing. One I was on for awhile (I have forgotten the name) melted 25 pounds off me without any dieting. Unfortunately, it didn't work for my depression.
I really, really wish I didn't have to take these things!
