I am sure I will be referring a lot of members to this post.  This topic of switching meds comes up a lot.  The one thing I worry about with some members is that they go cold turkey maybe not understanding that there could be some serious withdrawal symptoms.

I am curious...  Why folic acid supplements? What is the reasoning behind that choice, and in what amounts did he/she suggest? I have never read about this as a supplement to antidepressants, but would much rather add something like folic acid instead of increasing dosage or changing meds, if at all possible.

One is that folic acid apparently can be depleted by some antidepressants, and lack of folic acid can contribute to depression. Also, folic acid appears to enhance the effect of antidepressants.

 

Just the normal daily dosage works for me, although you should check with your doctor.
