Recent "empty nester"- 3 children. Daughter of wonderful mom and dad who've dealt with mom's SEVERE depression for approx 50!! years. Also have grown son who has suffered from severe depression, is diagnosed bipolar. (I'm feeling pretty convinced that he had depression, was treated with SSRI, and that MAY have turned into the road to what is now Bipolar.) He is still seeking help for treatment resistant depression. Looking into TMS TRanscranial Magnetic Stimulation. At least one of my sisters takes meds for depression. I have gotten involved with NAMI, DBSA....mostly DBSA discussion boards very helpful for family members. Also, local NAMi people very helpful. MANY NAMI affiliates (1,000s) -- in the country.
