Talk to your psychiatrist first.....
Deb S.
Thursday, October 30, 2008 at 05:34 PMI could have written this post, as well as the first comment to this post. you are not alone, either of you.
It took 3 different doctors (psychitrists...regular doctors are as knowledgable, in my experience) and several different meds and dosages before I saw improvement.
Also, finding a great therapist is key. It tried a few different therapists before I found the right one.
It does get better...but the right meds and a good therapist are the key!
Hang in there.

Depression
Dixie
Saturday, November 01, 2008 at 11:36 AMHi Dida, I have suffered major depression most (or all) of my adult life. Getting the right medication is key. After trying about 12 different meddications I found that only one that works for me is Effexor. I'm a disabled/retired nurse and have gained some weight my self. But I've found a walking buddy to walk with about five times a week, 1 1/2 miles. Take care and I hope you find some help soon!

I know how you feel. I've been in the same situation. I have tried several different medications, they help with the actual mental state of my depression, but I still don't have the desire to do anything. I have several different hobbies and such, but I just can't seem to get up and to anything. I work, but as soon as I get home, I don't want to leave. On my days off, I just want to stay in my home and avoid everyone. I hate it when the phone rings, especially if it is a family member, because I know that I need to talk with them. I stay so tired all the time, I'm always thinking about how good it would be to go home and get in bed! I hope you can find a solution to this problem. I know that I would like to find one. Good luck.
