Hi, I've just registered this evening and am totally new to the technology and the site, which is a little anxiety provoking to say the least!
I'm from the U.K. and have suffered with depression for as long as I can remember with no
clear diagnosis being given although endogenous has been mentioned.
I have tried discussing the possibility of being bi-polar with my G.P. but he brushes this off, probably because this would mean more of a drain on our health service. (Is this me being cynical or god forbid 'paranoid').
I have read a post by John Manamy regarding bi-polar/personality disorder and no reflection on John but I am now more confused than ever.
Will I ever know what is wrong with me or is this my life and I should just accept it?
Sorry for going on, I just wanted to say hi for now.

Welcome to My Depression Connection web site, Babs. You'll find this to be pretty user-friendly and if you need help navigating around, just ask.
I think you might have a better chance of getting an accurate diagnosis if you see a psychiatrist, or even a psychologist. They have clear criteria to assess your symptoms and then you'll be more certain that you're headed in the right direction with medication.
Some of the site members here are bipolar and many have had depression for a good share of their lives, so you're in good company. Feel free to write again and let us know how you're doing.
