I am not working either and have not been having any luck finding work. If he says to keep an eye on him I would do that. If he has just started the meds. they will need more time to get in his system. The meds. will help but he will still have to help himself in getting out of the depression. Once my meds kicked in it did really help but I am still depressed but it is not as severe. The rest is going to have to come from me in how I handle not working and having all this time on my hands. Once you lose your job you feel alot of insecurity and almost a loss of identity. We tend to indentify ourselves a lot thru what we do for a living. Just be there and be supportive. If the meds. don't work he may have to switch. I had to try 5 different meds. before I found the one that worked for me. Everybody is different and meds. work different for everybody.

If he has told you to keep an eye on him, then he might as well had told you that he was going to hurt himself. I know, I tried to kill myself July, 2007. I took a whole bottle of Tylenol PM pills, my husband found me on the livingroom floor. He took me to the hospital where I died four times, was in a coma and on life support, but eventually came out of it with no damage to my liver. We had just bought a new house a new car along with new furniture. I was working two jobs and at the time raising my 6 month old grandson. I really hope he can get the right help. For me I talk to God, the devil was pulling me down and God pulled me back up. God bless you and your family.
