Surviving High School

By emilie123 Friday, May 29, 2009

okay school has been giving me panic attacks. It's pulling me away form what is really important in my life, finals are stressing me out, sometimes i can't even find time to take showers because i'm too focused on only completing what needs to be done for school and i hate that. school should never be this stressful, i am about to pull my ####### hair out. Instead of explaining my whole dilemma-- just read this

http://www.school-survival.net/articles/school/Man_I_hate_school.php

Please help me with what i should do when i get a panic attack. -------I do get good grades, i'm horrible at biology and hate my teacher more than words can explain. My goal in that class went from getting a B (because i know i'm bad at science) to getting a C, (I figured one C in high school is not the end of the world.) to just passing the class with this psychotic bitch as a teacher, worst teacher I've ever had in my entire life. I've never truly "hated" someone, until now.

----If anyone has any tips on getting over my overwhelming hate for my teacher, PLEASE HELP. and if anyone has any tips to control panic attacks, also please let me know. cause i suffer from what is called groundless despondency-- fearful of unlikely future misfortune or something pleeeeeeeeeeeeease helppppppppp

I have had my share of panic attacks so I know how bad they can be.

Here is some information from the Mayo Clinic about them and what treatments are available.

It is so true that some teachers can make your life hell.  You dread going to class...you just want it all to end.  The good thing is...it will end.  This is a time limited gig you have with being around this person.  Focus on your goals and don't let this teacher have so much power over you to upset you so.

Figure out what the teacher's bottom line is...what do you need to do to get the grade?  What are you willing to do?

As for panic attacks...what helps me is distraction.  Go to a place where you feel safe.  Repeat a mantra (some sort of phrase which helps you).  If the panic attacks are interefering with regular life...it might be time to seek some help.

I hope you survive this and...I know you will.  Take things one moment at a time.  Before you know it...it will be summer.

hang in there...and tell us what happens with you.
