I want to thank everyone who helped me this weekend. I still feel fragile, but I don't feel as bad as I did a few days ago. I need good words of advice on how to stay afloat. I don't want to fall back into a hole again.

I too am very glad you are here and writing. I have been to that dark place too...more times than I can count. What keeps a person afloat? I am sure it is different for everyone. But for me...it is connection. Seeking out a therapist or a support group can be a good first step.
Also...de-focusing on the bad stuff helps. Get out of the house. Take a walk. Do other things.
Be kind to yourself. Don't beat yourself up for a bad day or when you find yourself unable to do very much.
Make sure you get enough sleep and that you are eating right. When I am depressed all of my self care goes out the window and I end up feeling worse.
These are but a few suggestions. Please do hang in there. We are rooting for you!

Sunday, February 15, 2009 at 05:37 PMPlease don't feel guilty. We all have to make choices, some bad some good. You have all the time in the world, don't take away what the Good Lord gave you, life and the ability to make our own decisions. What ever choice you make, ask God for strenght to hold yoursef together. I don't know you but in life you are my sister...I will keep you in my prayers.

Hi, Amy!
I'm so glad to see you posting today. You're quite welcome for the weekend help.
Have you thought about seeing a doctor or therapist? Sometimes we need a bit of help staying out of that hole. I know I do. It was hard to accept at first, but the chemicals in my brain are messed up. When I take my meds to keep them balanced, I can stay out of that hole.
I'll be here if you want to talk.
