Hi Jerry
I know that these things do work to improve my mood such as exercising and eating right. The problem for me is that when I am in a depressive episode...I don't feel like doing these things any more because of the energy and focus required. I begin to go towards the "comfort" foods like the cookies and donuts. It is a bad cycle to get into.
What I find helpful is to build these healthy lifestyle activities into my daily routine so I don't have to think so hard about what it is I am to be doing. Having a buddy to help you exercise and also eat healthy makes things a lot easier to get you motivated when times are tough.
Thanks so much for these gentle reminders of what does work to improve mood. Every little bit helps.
