It's January 24th. This, according to some researchers, qualifies it as the most miserable day of the year. Now I'm looking out of my window. It's raining, cold, gloomy and altogether bleak. If today qualifies as the most miserable 24 hours in a year it's not such a bad deal. Maybe the best thing is ...
Interesting post, Jerry. Coincidentally, I read today that we are in the midst of some major solar storms, today being the highest activity, so we may lose connectivity with computers and phones. That may cause someone to go over the edge these days! At least you are having rain - we are having a mild winter in Minnesota this year, but we still are getting days like yesterday where it took people over an hour to drive 5 miles to work because of the sleet and snow and there are always those who think they can still drive at 70 m.p.h. regardless of the weather. To me, every day of January we can get past is one less day of winter. The formula you gave probably does have some degree of truth to it!
I also play these little mind games. If I'm correct December 21st is the shortest day. So once that's gone I feel as if we're hurtling (well, moving) towards the Spring.
