I guess that I am confused...I quit drinking in college 40 years ago (I acted cazy on it, it was expensive, and I felt terrible the next day.

 

So am I supposed to start drinking in moderation to help my health and depression?

And what about us poor souls who don't drink alcohol?  I am not an alcoholic but with a strong family history I could be, so I am careful.  And I don't like coffee either, despite its health benefits.

 

So what are all us abstainers supposed to do?  Here we thought we were being good and healthy.

. . . and you are being healthy with not drinking. The article isn't a suggestion that we all take to the bottle, so much as it points out what can happen if regular moderate drinkers stop. Also, it's not the alcohol that provides the health benefits - alcohol is really just a toxin but is fine in moderation - it's what comes with it that scientists are really studying.

This is really a question to whomever? Does Alcohol affect some people at different stages in their life? As there are many internal/external factors that impair memory loss i.e. short term as i have had two older family members suffer recently. Comment Appreciated.
