Well I Finally Got to the Therapist

Talk about having to have patience when you don't have insurance or any kind of medical assistance it is a waiting game for sure! But I finally got called and got into the therapist with whom I like very much and was very pleased at the end of the session she asked me do you just want me to medicate you or do you want real help, I was taken back by this because no-one had ever asked me this, my reply was I wanted to be helped so I could be with my kids and my husband again and laugh and enjoy it like I use to. I was told it would be better to have on on one therapy due to anxiety with groups and crowds-I thought I 'm gonna pay big bucks for this-someone that cares this much and is willing to make sure I have all that I need to be ok again--surprise for me 3.00 is all I have to pay each visit!

They changed my meds also due to effexor raises your blood pressure-which I already have-she put me on cymbalta- because I also have alot of pain due to (MS episodes) and took me off the depakote 3xday and placed me on depakote ER once a day for extended relief. I have to say so far they seem to be working ok-but its only been a week-so we'll see. I have had several major blow ups in this week and no seizures which were being caused by stress-thank god-that is a weird feeling!

I am telling all of this to let people know that have no insurance that there is help out there for all! Tongue out

Take care and have a great week coming-my kids are going back to school so it will be relaxing one for me.

Bye for now

This is wonderful to hear Suzanne!  It sounds like you got someone who is really good and who cares.

Okay...we all want to know...step by step...how did you do this?  How did you get mental health care without insurance?  This is really important information which can help other people.

So...you are stopping effexor?  are you having withdrawals?  If you need any information on that...I can give you a link.

So good to hear from you and that you are getting good help!  Bravo...well done!

Keep writing...you are making a difference here!

Thanks, I have no withdrawals but it was traded for cymbalta-on the second week of it and so far I guess its ok--it am noticing I starting to get bouts of angry at me kids again for little things but is the meds not working or the stress of getting them back in school not really sure?! Will write about my expierence getting free or low cost care and how it went later if thats ok?!

It sounds like you've done really well.

Let us know how it goes without medication. I want to get off the Citalopram they have me on soon, but the docs convinced me to stick with it just a little longer.

The way the mental and the physical parts of us interact leads me to believe that you will probably start feeling physically better soon as well.

Good luck,

KJ
