There was a time, when men were kind
And their voices were soft
And their words were inviting
There was a time, when love was blind
And the world was a song
And the song was exciting
There was a time it all went wrong
I dreamed a dream in time gone by
When hope was high and life worth living
I dreamed that love would never die
I dreamed that God would be forgiving
Then I was young and unafraid
And dreams were made and used and wasted
There was no ransom to be paid
No song unsung, no wine untasted
But the tigers come at night
With their voices soft as thunder
As they turn your hope apart
As they turn your dreams to shame
He slept a summer by my side
He filled my dreams with endless wonder
He took my childhood in his stride
But he was gone when autumn came
And still I dream he'd come to me
That we would live the years together
But there are dreams that cannot be
And there are storms we cannot weather
I had a dream my life would be
So different from the hell I'm living
So different now from what it seemed
Now life has killed the dream I dreamed

Hey there
Yes this is quite a magnificent song...very powerful. Have you been listening to it recently?
What parts of the lyrics most resonate with you
Thanks for sharing...
MM
Hi MM,
gosh, the whole song really. I kind of prefer the other one actually I talked about I'll stand by you since it is more positive...but this one is nice too...and I cry every time I watch that video...Susan Boyle being judged, laughed at, mocked...and then shutting everyone up, and like the one judge said....a huge wake up call....I love this....she woke people up with magnificent grace, beauty and with what I feel is a place near God where such talent must spring...kind of like brought them nearer to God and what they were doing was the opposite....
it amazes me, voices like hers and voices like that that are so powerful, beautiful inspire me so much. You can just tell singers like that are in a place away from the judement of that world and are in a very wonderful place inside...
