there is a product- called BonSweet - no calorie sweetener fortified with calcium and vitamin D. it can help boosting calcium consumption while dieting. It doesn't work well with coffee creamers (like Coffee mate) but can work for any coffee with and withour milk, tea, lemonade etc. you can find it on a mazon.
When I look back now, blood test results I had 5 years ago showed a low calcium level in my blood. No cause for alarm. No supplements recommended. However 5 years later after being diagnosed with Osteoporosis, two stress fractures and suffering severe depression a further blood test showed below normal calcium suffiicient to have the nurse phone me to tell me to start taking calcium supplements. Immediately went on to calcium supplement, even though my diet is high in calcium and always has been. I am a high consumer of dairy, leafy greens and meat. Whilst Osteoporosis should have been my main concern, it was the unexplicable depression which I found to be the most debilitating.
After about 2 weeks on a calcium supplement. my depression lifted, slowly but there was a definite change in my mood. I am due for another blood test in 6 weeks to monitor the calcium levels. I am so excited.
I am looking forward to the next calcium test and to figure the correlation of the lack of calcium to my overall health.
