I logged on to ask a question about bipolar depression and got interested in your article on the logistics of treating certain disorders in space. I guess one would have to be pretty well put together before going up in the first place, and make sure there is a live or life-like on call MD available 24/7.

For me, the treatment of choice would be talk with a great therapist - if that would prove 100% effective. I don't like anti-depressant medications and I'd choose to avoid them, best case. If talk therapy was not an option, I would take cocaine, in a non-addictive form - again, best case. Cocaine is a great mood elevator and energizer that would allow me to both work and fulfill my duties at home. Cocaine is better than any anti-depressant I've ever taken. It's been over 20 years since I last tried this drug, but I still have fond memories.
I would go to the very best psychiatrist I could find also a CBT therapist, one again noted for being v good [theyre expensive and Im poor !] I would also feel the fear and do it anyway regarding where I live, here in Ireland, the Climate [especially with Global warming] has meant we now [4th year running] get 4months of grey skies in summer with an oppressive feel and Thunder, flash flooding and its just so depressing ! Im affected by skies, so Id go to a better climate. I would also maybe go to a place where there was quite a community, as being single, having no family, I would love to be involved with people whilst still keeping my own space. A peaceful safe place,
