every time i see a different doc they try the newest exp. i feel lke a lab rat . they seem seem more influenced by med journals than genuine doctorial experience.they havent been through what i have . ive been a "lab rat" for the most part for 10 years . the last experiment was buspar the only thing that has ever give me releif was alprazalam 2 mgs per day ive been seeking help for the lst 2 yrs because of fear from the rx for dependancy and prescription regulation\fraud. i have been medicated with xanax and klonopin, its the only thing that ever worked for me. Ive been hospitalized 3 times in less than 2 years for anxiety\pain disorder, yet doctors fear to continue the provin course of treatment for fear ,or so it seems, of prosecution or persicution. where is my relief. Its 4 in the morning ,i go to work at 8 am and havent slept for 2 days and double the acceptable score on my stress test today .yet i was denied my xanax after consulting with a new doctor in another area after 3 yrs of successful treatment! wheres my help?
i agree with you . im not taking anything away from the knowledge of DR's but i think we should be able to sue them for malpractice because if something works but it just happends to be a xanax, then their afraid to prescribe it because the way it may look to the fda. if it works it works . i think it cruel for them to chemical castrate men with all these anti-depressents , they will prscribe those all day which i think they are harder on us than xanax ever will. i took xanax for 2 yrs and then i noticed that i really didn't even need the xanax any more as far as addiction xanax is the least addictive benzo there is i never really had any problems stepping down off xanax in a weeks time not one problem. dr's need to man up and do what right for the patient and not worry about fda .
been on xanax for depression, bipolarism and other anxiety...was working well,my docotr moved and got switched to someone new...they reduced amount drastically...back to cryin 24-7 over nothing...tired of doctors gettin scared and taking help away cause a few iddiots out there...been cryig for nothing, sad, angry, for days now...they worked great for long time in small everyday doses....now im back to being a mess!
I take Klonopin (2mg.) every night for insomnia and have been for 6+ years. I suffer from clinical depression and anxiety. For the depression I take Effexor XL, Buspar and Wellbutrim. Until the antidepressants kicked in I took the Klonopin for panic attacks. I have had tremendous relief from my syptoms. I use to take a higher dosage of Effexor XL exclusively (in addition to the Klonopin) until high blood pressure became a problem. I really felt capable and well on the Effexor XL, but feel close to as well on the current combo I take. By the way I receive my treament from a sliding scale mental health center, as I have no insurance. I have received wonderful care and LOVE my doctor. She truly saved my life.
I've had panic disorder since 1981. Finally, around 1985 my Dr subscribed Xanax. It's been a god-send for me. It initially took about 3 to 4 mg/day to get the symptoms under control, but after taking it regularily, the symptoms were controlled and it allowed me to resume a near-normal daily life. I tapered myself off of it in 1987, and didn't need it again until around 2000. I've taken it off and on since, usually no more than .25 day, depending on symptoms. It does seem to be more effective if taken regularly, whether you're having symptoms or not. I've experience no side-effects, but I'm starting to think now at age 48 it's effecting my metabolism, but that's just a guess. I've also found that Paxil is nearly 100% effective treating the panic attacks, but I also experience considerable weight gain and sexual side effects. This is why I've setteled on Xanax.
Hi,
I was taken off klonopin after taking it for a few years on a daily basis. Besides for going through awful withdrawal and am having the worst case of panic disorder I've had in years. I was placed on Baclofen, which is less addictive and I was glad to be off klonopin, but the anxiety is unbearable. I don't want to go anywhere, not even work. I'm thinking that, although I'd rather not have to, I will need to go back on klonopin. I also have suffered from depression for years as well and klonopin never made me more depressed.
Hope this helps.
Good Luck!

I used Klonapine and became severely more depressed. Think it is all about how it will effect you. As for my panic attacks I treid this self help guide.
