Have you chosen a holistic approach as opposed to medication to treat your depression??

I have been suffering from depression for some time now but have been reluctant to use prescribed medication due to the adverse side effects. I have been considering the purchase of natural supplements that increase as well as stabilize serotonin levels. Please share names of supplements you have tried and have been effective for you.

Answer:

Dear Patti,

There are a number of supplements that can be used for depression. I'm sure some of our members will share their experiences with you.

Before buying and taking any supplements, I'd advise you to talk with your doctor. Even these "natural" supplements act as drugs in the body. They can interact with both over-the-counter and prescription medications, and some shouldn't be used if you have any other health problems.

I'm not saying not to try supplements, but please be careful?

Good luck,
