BUT, I CANT GO TO A PSYCHIATRIST, OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT...MY MIDDLE DAUGTER IS BIPOLOR AND IS DOING GREAT ON HER NEW MEDS. IT TOOK AWHILE FOR HER TO BE DIAGNOSED TOO.  I AM JUST TRYING TO HANG ON TO WHAT SANITY I HAVE LEFT. I HAVE NOT LEFT MY HOUSE SINCE I WENT TO THE DR. Let me clue in anyone who happens to come across this and any other "success" stories about using anti depressants.  They will not work and have been proven to not work.  You myaswell be shoving a sugar pill down your throat once a day.  I took 3 types of anti-depressants for periods of 3-6 months along with antianxiety medications (as I was forced to take them due to some incompetent psychiatrist legally forming me).  I noticed no change in my symptoms and at the time everyday I felt like the world would end for me.  The pills made me fall asleep in class twice sometimes 3 times a day.  Eventually I told my doctor and psychiatrist I would see them in court before I took another one of their tranquilizers.  Its now been over 2 years and I have chosen what I believe to be the better form of treatment after trying psychotherapy, prozak, zoloft, paxil, and activities I enjoy.  My final decision: smoke marijuana once a day when you desperatly need the mood change. Im not a doctor, but it works!! Anyone who thinks it would impair them at work or at home with their family either hasn't tried it or is listening to the american propaganda (thanks to nixon).  Canada has allowed the use of medicinal marijuana for many purposes it just so happen depression is one of them.  Their is a process involved and im still awaiting my mental health specialist and doctor to sign the forms. but for now it is the only alternative unless you want to be tranquilized for the rest of your life.  On a final note those pills you were prescribed that you claim helped you?  Did your psychiatrist even bother to tell you the long term effects?  Probably didn't you know why? BECAUSE NOBODY KNOWS scary thought!!!

I think you should be aware that everyone is different. Some meds work for some people while the same meds may not work for other people. I have found that since I have started taking the medication for my bi-polar I have felt much more stable and that these meds are in fact working. If this is a placebo effect, fine I'll take it.

Well I take abilify but I am also go to therapy once a week and my therapist and I work on my coping skills constantly. So I think between the therapy and the Abilify I am able to handle things much better than before. Are you currently seeing anyone for your Bi-polar? If so I would highly recommend talking to them about working with you on your coping skills. I wish you the best of luck!

Thank you Alice. I just fired my therapist for sending me bills every month that I do not owe. The stress from these billing errors pushed me over the edge. I went off my meds and went into a mania that is affecting my diabetes.  So now I need a new therapist that is kind and listens and knows how to bill properly. Good Luck to you.
