Son's update on school situation

By Ann Tuesday, August 28, 2007

He is adjusting, slowly but adjusting.  As time goes by the aggressiveness and anger are both diminishing.  There are still some frustrations, I am just going to expect that for awhile until he is caught up academically.

I met with his teacher, Mrs F, the next morning after my first post!  I had to know what happened at school, if something happened, or if it was just bringing "everything" home and letting loose!  Overall he had a good day, nothing major happened that she saw in the classroom.  But lunch and recess could have been a different story as there is one child that can cause a lot of problems for him.  That is why we made the request they were not in the same class in the first place!

Mrs F and I are keeping in contact by a notebook daily and I will make regular visits as well, just as I used to while he was in special education.  We are going to barter for tutoring in arithmetic where he is going to have the majority of his problems in playing catch up for awhile.

Still struggling but getting easier.  Now just keeping fingers and toes all crossed that as all the other activities start in the next few weeks, he doesn't get overwhelmed.

I can only take so much and I am already past overload with everything else in my own world!

Mom And Kids You are a strong mom and you have a lot on your plate. You are doing the best for your child and don't let it get to you. Stand by and take time for yourself for a while and than go back to this problem. It sounds like you and the teacher are taking great steps towards helping your son. Hang in there and know we are all here for you. I will pray for you all. God bless you and have a great school year.
