Hello 2dogs1bird,

I am sorry to say that I could really relate to what you are going through.  Several years ago, I experienced a lot of the same things you are going through, and I needed some kind of relief ASAP.

My psychiatrist put me on Risperdal, 2 mg, one at bedtime.  Initially, it pretty much knocked me out, but after a few weeks, my body adjusted to it.  I was also taking Klonopin, 1 mg, 3 X per day.  I had to go off Klonopin, however, because of another drug I was taking, that could have had serious drug interactions.

Nowadays, I don't take Risperdal or Klonopin.  I was recently hospitalized, and my psychiatrist swapped out the Risperdal for Seroquel.    I take 300 mg XR at night and 100 mg (Seroquel) at night, as well.

The biggest difference I have noticed with the Risperdal and the Seroquel, is that I no longer have these feelings of rage and intense anger.

I also take 90 mg Cymbalta at bedtime, for the depressive side of bipolar. It works really well for depression, and it has the delicious side effect of preventing migraines.

Hi,

I live with 3 people in my family with very similar symptoms, 2 sons and my husband.  Trileptal seems to do the trick for them.  It is like night and day!  My sons are both on it, and hopefully my husband will be soon, as well.  We had gone to the Amen Clinic in Reston, Virginia, for a brain spect scan for the boys, and this is the one drug they recommended that made the most difference.  We had seen SEVERAL psychiatrists up to that point, and no one had ever suggested this type of drug.  check out www.amenclinic.com for more interesting information.  We were desperate, as a family.  Much better now!  Best wishes!  There IS help out there.
