Hello my name is Jon and I suffer from depression. I don't remember the exact time I was diagnosed. I do remember being different having no friends in school. I think it was half way thru 9th grade that i was diagnosed. That was the "official" time i was diagnosed. I am sure it was much earlier. My Father and Mother have recently been diagnosed with depression. Currently I am almost a recluse. where i live there is a program thru one of the hospitals in my state. I try to go even though I have a hard time getting up. I think the counselor is too harsh. Even though she is I still try to go.
I live with my mom (even though i'm 33). I don't drive a car. I hope this is helping Amber, My parents were divorced when I was 3. My close friends are far enough away where I don't stay in contact too much. Even the friend who lives down the road.
I haven't even talked about abusive friends. I was admitted to the hospital affiliated with the program mentioned earlier. I was there 3 times last year. The last time the doctor verbally threat me with either moving to a group home or instituitionization.
