OEF/OIF Veterans Mood and Brain Imaging Research Study (San Diego, CA)

By Stress & Neuroimaging Lab Monday, October 12, 2009

Our research lab is currently conducting a study at the San Diego VA in La Jolla, to find out more about mood regulation using functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) brain imaging techniques.  This is a non-treatment research study for veterans who have been combat deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan.  We are currently looking for OEF/OIF veterans ages 18-50 who are experiencing depression (depressed mood, feeling down, or have lost interest in enjoyable activities).  Since the MRI machine is a large magnet, it's important not to have any metal objects in your head or body, unless removable.

The study involves 2 sessions.  The initial assessment takes 2-3 hours, and participants will be compensated $35 for this first visit.  The second session (fMRI),  will also take approximately 2-3 hours, and participants will be compensated $65 for this final visit and will also get a picture of their brain.  There may be additional research opportunities with our lab if interested as well.

If you meet the above criteria, live in the San Diego area and are interested in participating in this research study, please contact Lindsay: (858) 552-8585 x2896 or by email at ucsdstudy@gmail.com
