We are all given free will to make choices & the right to our own opinions.
Despite his reputation, & I understand why he earned his reputation, I personally have my own thoughts about this young man who died at the very young age of 25 years old.
I think this quote, in particular, is profound & I wanted to share it with you all.
"Never surrender. It's all about the faith you have. Don't ever stop; just push yourself until you reach the top and if you drop, get back up and push yourself until you reach the top again. Then at least you know you are giving your all. Be true to you and that way you can never really fall".
by Tupac Shakur: June 16 1971 ~ September 13 1996

Hi Lee!!!
What a great thought to use a quote as a sharepost. I actually have a very unorganized collection of quotes that Ihave gotten from newspapers, magazines, books, songs, etc. over the years that I someday plan to organize into a scrapbook of sorts.
You can learn and gain inspiration from ANYONE. We all have different experiences, opinons, points of view, and so on. And if you can be open and understanding to what others say, think, and do, you may very well find something that is worthwile to you that you never would have had.
I do know who Tupac Shakur is and what he accomplished in his reletively short life. But I know little of his "story" as a person. So I pass no judgement on him.
But as for his words that you have repeated here....there is most certainly inspiration in them. The last words "you can never really fall" is something for all of us to really stop and think about. Setbacks...yes. Obstacles...yes. But as long as you keep trying, you are "still standing".
At the same time, those of us that suffer from depression, or any mental illness, need to be careful at times about how hard we push ourselves, and acknowledge to ourselves that, when we are in our darkest moments, even the smallest thing we might do validates that we are still trying....still standing...still carrying on.
Another quote that I think of often came from Winston Churchill. There is a story that he addressed a graduating class and gave this as his speech.....don't know that it is completely true that this is all he said, but it is a great story.
He stood up before his large audience and said "Never, never, never, never, never give up". And he sat back down (not sure exactly how many times he said never).
Those of us here on this site, and the many, many more around the world that suffer from such emotional trauma are the epitomy of resliant.
I like it....Be well
Greg
