HELLO everyone. Is there anyone here who has something to share about bipolar depression? Would like some input from someone besides myself. Is bipolar disorder even discussed here very often?

Hello there Kelti!
Welcome to My Depression Connection. I am glad to see you here. Wanted to tell you in case you did not already know...we do have a Bipolar site here. Just follow this link. There are a lot of good people there too who talk about their experiences.
What would you like to talk about while you are here? Are you having a depressive episode right now? Tell us what is going on and we can try our best to provide support and information.
Make yourself at home...we are glad you came!
Alfredo, I have never thought of it that way before, but its so true. How do you come up with this stuf? What you remarked on sounds a lot like Multiple Personality Disorder/ Dissacotive Idenity Disorder, only with a totally different cause. How uncanny. I hope you plan on lookong into your brain some more and see what you come up with. Of course the psyscs., etc arent gonna go for it. Thats a given. It would mess up their current diagnostic tree for mental illness. But, there is always room for new concept and thought if for nothing else to explain to the 'others' what its like to be kicked down and have our butts handed to us on a silver platter. Have you ever thought about what its like to be psychotic and how that feels and how it looks to 'them'? Alfredo, this is worth writing about. Its fantastic! More later, Im sure

hi there Kelti,
I have a feeling that there are many people who post here who suffer from Bipolar Disorder. I am one. I would say that those who can somehow cope with bipolar tend to post here amongst the nicer and gentle people. Those who are furious, are often suffering delusions of grandeur and are ready for an argument tend to post on Bipolar Connect. Those who suffer from Bipolar, I believe, are not only disturbed by the symptoms but are also (and this is what many do not realize especially doctors or those who look at the disorder in purely biological terms) disturbed by powerful internal conflicts that manifest in separate selves. Because of the moods, distorted emotions, and upset feelings we are never one person but assume different personalities during the year. We have to learn how each of our separate self works and thinks and find, somehow, the ability to watch over all of these selves. Medication works on the symptoms but Cognitive Therapy works on the multiple selves and how to deal with them all. It may sound strange but this is my feeling here. When I am manic I am a totally different person from when I am depressed and different again before the mania or depression comes. Even my ideas change at times.
