Hi, everyone. I have not posted in a long time and I'm sorry about that. I am okay and I get a little better every day. I recently found a great solution to my problems. I do not make any money so I cannot afford medical care. But, I signed up for charity care at a hospital in my area called Virginia Mason. Everything is free except prescriptions. Doctor visits and tests, free of charge. Precsriptions, when filled at their pharmacy, are actually very affordible. I am very lucky and happy I found such a program. And I got about 3 months worth of my prescriptions absolutely free. All I have to do is sign a piece of paper saying I got them.

Although I went through a lot of hoops, it was totally worth it :)

Never give up hope, everyone. We are in this struggle together and we CAN come out on top. Thank you all for being a great community. You have helped me through some trying times and I have done my best to return the favor.

Also, thanks for reading. I am glad I found this community when I really needed it.

Hey Kyle

It is really good to hear from you!  I am so glad you found medical care in this way...how did you find it as so many people are in the same financial boat.

You sound good.

Let us know how other things are going in your life.  We definitely want to catch up with you.

Thanks so much for writing...it means a lot to our site.

I actually found out about it through family. More specifically, my aunt. She was looking for medical care, too cause she was unemployed at the time. And at a family get together the subject came up that I, as well as my mother, could use some health care.

She literally handed us a copy of the information and I jumped right on board. My mother only recently filled out her application. No wonder she's my closest aunt! She freakin rules lol.

And I looked around a lot but I couldnm't find anything worthwhile beforehand. Just like with jobs now you sometimes have to seriously network to get where you want to go. Really I owe my progress to my aunt.

The name of the hospital is Virginia Mason. I don't know exactly how they operate but we have a clinic right here in my city. The name of the program is charity care. They unfortunately do not cover therapists in my area. But they do have psyuchiatrists and specialists on site. Apparently they even cover surgery.

Right on time, too. I was beginning to lose hope. And I was actually thinking of making a statement by attempted suicide. They pretty much hospitalize you for 72 hours but I figured that would get the ball rolling. Luckily it never came to that.

I find it absolutely extraordinary just how much debating and planning a person can do to gain what they need or desire. Kinda like survival mentality.

Anyway. The hospital I found was virginia mason. I knew they existed but I had no idea they had a system in place for low income families. Ask around and see what you can come up with :)

It may have happened by chance with me but that didn't stop me from thanking whatever higher power I could for the opportunity. And this is definitely anm opportunity I could not pass on.

Great news, Kyle.  I'm glad you are feeling so much better and were able to get the help you needed.  Hope you'll stick around with us!

No worries there. I'll log on whenever I can. Like I said, you ladies and gentlemen really helped me out. If I don't stick around then what kind of man am I? Haha. Loyal to friends and family. And anybody who offers a hand to help is in one of those categories :)

Thank you for the comment!

Hi Kyle,

that is wonderful news.  I can tell you have some mighty resilience and light and strength in you.

Tell me, what did they need?  I have been about to....go to the local affordable hospital here and do the same thing...just that they need a birth certificate or passport, neither of which I have at the moment, and a letter confirming where my income is coming from (from family and boyfriend at the moment)...and so I am afraid to go without these!  Plus, I have SOME insurance although covers nothing...and afraid to find out they won't like this!

So I hesitate....but I should just go and see what they say.  I know usually they send you back many times to get additional things...was that your experience?

Yay for you!  Good job!

Somehow I got real lucky. All they needed from me is my signature and my income information. Took them about a week to reply. It covers me for six months and then I have to reapply. But since nothing has really changed I've been accepted for another six months.

Very happy with the results. Took me about a year and a half, maybe even 2 after I found out I have depression. And this one time it really paid off. It definitely helps knowing there are still some good resources out there.

You say they wanted your birth certificate? That sounds very strange. Do you currently live close to any borders? Mexican or Canadian? I know in places like that things are a little more shifty. Government regulations and all that. Want to make sure you are a citizen, maybe? Do you have a social security number? Cause if you have that then your Certificate should be on file with them. Or were you born out of country?
