Hello, Floer. I'm sorry that your husband seems to be so insensitive about this, I'm sure it doesn't help at all. My husband used to be more like that but after we started couples counseling, it gradually helped him understand me a lot better, plus I could understand him, as well.
I was noticing in your profile that you are taking Effexor; one of the possible side effects is itching. Don't know if you've looked at any of the drug information available on this site, but here is a link to the info on Effexor and I think on the last page it lists the possible side effects. You might also look into possible interactions with other medications you are taking, which I think you can find in the same area. I noticed that you have a question today about Xanax and taking too much of it, so here is a link to that, as well. You can become dependent on it and you CAN take too much of it, so I would strongly recommend that you don't just arbitrarily decide to take more than your doctor has prescribed.
Do you have a counselor or therapist who could help you work on making more friends and dealing with your husband's reactions? I think it's hard for people sometimes who don't know what it's like to suffer from depression and anxiety to have a lot of empathy for those who do; they run out of patience because they don't understand and think you should be able to just "get over it."
Can I ask you if there was something in particular that happened that triggered the depression that caused you to be unable to work?
If you have any concerns about your medications, please talk to your doctor about them; there are good reasons why they have to be prescribed and we can't just buy them ourselves over the counter. I hope you will be able to make some new friends and feel better and enjoy being a grandmother. My first one is almost a year old and we are just tickled to death whenever we get to see him - he's put a new spark in our lives. Good luck with getting all of this sorted out and please write again any time.
