Commenting on a recent study, National Institute of Mental Health Deputy Director Richard Nakamura, PhD, commented:"Osteoporosis is a silent disease. Too often, the first symptom a clinician sees is when a patient shows up with a broken bone. Now we know that depression can serve as a red flag ...

That broken hip is all to often the downturn of it all, and an incredible amount of seniors never really recover... Osteoporosis is incredibly tricky to address as it isn't many times apparent until the damage is done, and so all one can hope for is that health practitioners and folks like us get the word out and around, increasing awareness of the issue and hopefully helping to head it off.
