A blog carnival I follow came out this week on the topic, 'How Spirituality Helps Us Cope with Migraine Disease." It made me think not only about the Migraines I have, but also about how I cope with depression.
Yes, I take an antidepressant, but that's not really enough for me to feel my bes...

I just got home from my session today, this was the topic we discussed. I have been seeing my Psychologist for a few months now. One of my questions I had for her is "Are you a christian" I felt that she was... but for me I need to know for sure. So when I asked her she said yes she was. It has opened up for me a new level of trust, Knowing that God is in her life, I also knew that she also was lead by her beliefs in God and her beliefs in the Science of Psychology. I have major issues with trust of any kind, so I hope this will help me in that area!
Teri, I have a question for you I often hear people say what you have said...
I don't consider myself a particularly religious person, but do consider myself to be spiritual. I beleive in God; he's my "higher power" or "higher being." And, that belief helps me through especially difficult days
What is : a particulary religious person? as opposed to I believe in God. I just have never been able to figure out the difference! Or, is it just a PC statement as to "heaven forbid" offend any one.
As far as I am concerned I don't know the difference, I do know that for me having a Christian psychologist make a huge difference to me.
thanks,
cindy
Hi, CJ,
I think being spiritual as opposed to religious means different things to different people. Here are some points to what I mean...
I don't subscribe to any particular denomination or church.
I also don't attend any particular church on a regular basis. God doesn't confine his presence to churches, and he listens, no matter where we are or how we pray.
There is also room in my mind to accept people knowing God by different names.
In other words, to me "religious" is about accepting a particular religion and following it.
Hope this makes some sense.
Teri
