have fought it for over 30 years

there are so many times when I feel like there is no one to talk with..complain to..or just have a conversation with who understands...why I feel like crying on and off all day..or why making that climb out of bed IS a "big" issue for me...and the list goes on and on..

HI , IT,S JENNIFER AGAIN. WOW...I KNOW WHAT IT FEELS LIKE TO WAT TO STAY IN BED AND HIDE FROM THE WORLD. I HAVE SO MANY HEALTH CONCERNS THAT I AM ABLE TO DO IT. MY HUSBAND HAS HAD TO DO ALMOST ALL THE HOUSE WORK FOR THE PAST 2 YEARS. I HATE TO COMPLAIN, BUT, I ALMOST NEVER FEEL GOOD, THEN WHEN DEPRESSION HITS...IT JUST MAKES EVERYTHING ELSE WORSE. ARE YOU TAKING ANY MEDS? I HAVE BEEN TAKING ZOLOFT FOR OVER 2 YEARS...IT HAS HELPED AND NOW I TAKE 50MGS. INSTEAD OF 100. I HOPE TO HEAR FROM YOU SOON....HANG IN THERE......JENNIFER

 You are not alone, I've fought a similar battle. I didn't recognize it as depression.  I just got fatter,lazier, angrier, irritable, very defensive, lots of negative behavior.  I've worked very hard to over come most of my problems.  I have days that are similar to yours, my creativity and motivation are almost gone.  I deal with the illness by taking medication, using therapy, making new friends, it is very easy to crawl back into bed and sleep all day.   Believe me I do it faster than a jack rabbit can run.  I don't know the answer to the effects of depression.  For me it helps to reach out and get busy, I've lost weight, feel better.  Decision making is much easier, handling my day to day affairs is 100 % improved.  Reading self help books has been a God send.  I'm learning to take care of me first instead of the rest of the world.  I think that is the trick to recovery.
