Having my two dogs is one of the best treatments I know in my world .. they not only provide companionship , but comfort .. I know it is a topic with most who have an illness and has been documented that pets can increase your "happiness" level ....

I know mine have , and taking them for walks , tending to their needs helps me remember that I am not alone ... so what happens when your pets need basic health care ..

If you happen to be considering or just recently aquired a new pet , do them a favor and , if you can afford it, get per health coverage ..

I hadn't when I aquired my "pound" puppies , who are now 12 & 10 years old .. as problems arose and I was working , it wasn't an issue .. and now as I age and am disabled , it is a cost that causes me to make decisions like which bills do I put off to get the proper treatment for my "kids" ...

So , get the insurance , it is worth it in the long run ... as my little dacshound , Maxx, now 10 , has been having some additional health issues , the costs are high just for tests .. but as he is my son , I choose to do what I can to ensure he is healthy and comfortable ..

The decision to get pancreatic blood work done due to his exhibiting some conditions was a no brainer for me .. his well being is my well being .. I make sure that his needs are met , as he ages and I want him around for as long as possible ..

So , if you are like me , and find comfort in having a beloved pet around to lift you when you are sad, or make you smile when you are in discomfort .. then check into the insurance before the problems occur .. as with most insurance for us humans, preconditions will not be covered , just a word of advice ..

If you've got a camera, you should post some photos of your "kids" in the photos section of your home space.

My 'Angels with whiskers' are rats!  Seven of them!

I am surprised how many people on the rat communities suffer from depressio - and vice versa.

Tonight has been really encouraging - two of my newly rehomed girls came out voluntarily, and allowed me to make a fuss of them.  Miss Smeeze even made some noises which are equivalent to a cat purring.

There are times when I struggle with suicidal temptations, and knowing my rats and hamsters depend on me has been one of the main things which kept me from acting on them.
