Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at 11:33 AMHello there! I am so sorry to here that you have been struggling but I hope I can help. I found a support group at my church, they have many kinds of support groups and one of them is for depression. It would be worth checking out. It has helped me tremendously!! I have made some really good friendships from my support group and we hang out together and I know I can call them at anytime day or night and they are there willing to listen. One of my friends called me last night and she was so upset because her daughter is going through some really tough times and told her that she wanted to commit suicide. My friend is so upset and just needed someone to talk to. Depression is such a sneaky disease and it will creep up on you when you least expect it, we need all the help we can get. I am proud of you for speaking up and reaching out for help. Take care and God Bless!!

Therapy

Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at 01:44 PMHello, CMF. I'm sorry you're having such a hard time. I wonder if you could be referred to someone who specializes in trauma, PTSD - you mentioned things that have happened that have messed you up. There's a type of therapy for trauma called EMDR, ask your therapist if he/she has ever heard of it. It's been found to be quite helpful in resolving trauma issues - how long it takes depends on how much trauma there's been, but I have found that it's helped me.
As for support groups, maybe your therapist knows of some or sometimes hospitals have them.
Thanks for reaching out here and hope you're soon on your way to feeling better.

A support group might help...
Merely Me
Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at 03:46 PMHey there
I am really sorry you are going through this and I know it must seem that there is no help but there is...and especially from people who have gone through this.
Here is The National Alliance on Mental Illness web site and how to find a local NAMI support group in your area.
And here is NAMI's information hotline information:
"The Information HelpLine is an information and referral service which can be reached by calling 1 (800) 950-NAMI (6264), Monday through Friday, 10 am- 6 pm, Eastern time. Business callers, including those seeking particular NAMI staff members, should call 703-524-7600."
I sure hope this helps some. Thank you so much for reaching out here and know that you can write here any time you wish. There is a lot of support here too.

I have never been on this site before, and I have been through depression before, but I believe that I am much better, but I have learned to rethink alot of my life and I've find that alot of bad things or bad feelings I have had made me a better person and mom so maybe I had to go through that first before I could become who I am now. If you need someone to share with I will happy to share or just conversate with to help you in anyway. Do you know why you are so depressed if you don't mind me asking?
