Hi. I hope somebody can help me. I've been living with major depression for over fifteen years, more than half my life. I have been on so many medications I can't even remember all of them. I also see a psychologist. I used to do a half decent job of coping with work and home life. Then three years ago my mother committed suicide. I was forced to take a demotion at work and have been on two leaves of absence since then. I have also been in a financial crisis because of missing so much work. All I want is to find a job that I can do from home so that I'm not so overwhelmed. All I can find is advertisements for home based businesses and get rich quick schemes. I don't want to get rich, and I'm not looking for a handout. I just want to pay my bills. My employer is getting tired of me crying all the time and asking for shorter work days. Help!

I can certainly see how you are in a very difficult situation with your job. It is difficult for someone to tell you straight out how you specifically can find a job, but here are some things to think about to help yourself move toward discovering the answer. What kind of education do you have? What work experience do you have? What type of work have you done well in the past? What are your goals for a new job (besides making money of course)? What types of activities do you enjoy? Can you think of any jobs that involve them? In addition to thinking through these questions, I would encourage you to talk with family and/or friends. Often times people who know us well have good ideas for what we would be good at. I hope this is helpful.
