When I first had depression at 14 I had it at night. It used to come on as the sun went down. This is common. Some people get it worse in the morning.  That horrible desolate feeling is part of depression. It used to be thought that the pineal gland was responsible. Try to get more sunlight but also go to see your doc, its not normal, something biochemical is happening, and it can be treated. No one has to put up with those horrible feelings when there are very effective treatments available.

That's one of the frustrating parts about this...the ups and downs.  I have had the same type of feelings.  Everything is going okay, life is calm and enjoyable, then you reach the top of next crest on the roller coaster.

The only thing that I can suggest is when you feel good, take the time to stop and BE in the moment for as long as you can.  Breathe, focus and enjoy that feeling.  Don't think about anything else.  I find that by doing that, it helps to prolong the feeling.  I use a similar method to cure my hiccups.

    Hang in there.
