So I have been on some sort of anti-depressants for about 5 years, on-off. I am currently on Wellbutrin SR and Prestiq. But I stopped taking prestiq about two weeks ago, because i didn't have the money to refill. now i am struggling with anger, get very ticked off at the smallest things and just don't "feel" "normal", (if anyone ever does). I HATE feeling this way and just wish I could have a normal brain. I

Hi,
I'm on Wellbrutrin as well, but recently have stopped taking Serzone(generic brand) as my vision was blurry, I was dizzy, light headed, tired and faint. After falling two times and avoiding other falls. I stopped. I went through a few withdrawal symtoms, but it is better than feeling the way I was and the warnings on the label say the same thing is these side effects are happening to call your Dr. Which didn't help much as I report to the receptionist several times and no response. I guess if it is really bad I would go to an ER or my Family Doc.
I did have my blood levels tested on my liver, which Serzone can cause ill effects, but I have a very healthy liver and LDL and HDL are very good as well as before I went on Serzone in April they were not. Since then I went off of Cymbalta which I felt was keeping fat on me and switched to Serzone which I didn't have any ill effects 7 years ago before my son's death.
Anyway, I have lost weight and can fit back into many clothes I couldn't after my son's death 6 1/2 years ago. One reason could be the change in meds and the other in intensive therapy with a great Psychologist. I also have been able to be very active in my garden after I had suffered from Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, which I had surgery done a year ago on my hands.
I also added HRT in April but just didn't feel they were helping either. So between the HRT and Serzone, I really felt sick and dizzy. So like I said about the Serzone, I have been off of that and HRT for a week and a half.
I'm doing well, but the last two days I've been feeling sick to my stomach, having chills and needing sleep. Much like the flu. Before this came about though I have been working very hard in my yard and during the time I quit my HRT I had heavy cramps and a long period, which if I need HRT, I shouldn't be having a period. So it is not worth taking the HRT if I'm going to be sick!
I'm not sure if taking Serzone for a few months would bring on flu like symptoms after I stopped taking them, which wasn't cold turkey. So I understand your dilemma about feeling anger etc. See if taking B-vitamins and omega-3 help.
I do hate changing meds...but sometimes it is for the best.
I enjoy scrapbooking, etc. and understand about you missing your friends from all over the world. It is difficult sometimes to fit in, when some of our life styles and changes separate us from so many. I know I am not the same person I was as a teenager and college student while growing up in the bay area, compared to identifying with my life as a married woman, mother, and grandmother and living in a whole different environment.
Something you might consider is checking with the manufacturer of the meds because a lot of them will help in supplying you with antidepressants during hard times. I recieved a hundred lexapro for free from the maker and dont have to pay a penny. Some pharmacies will throw out a few pills as an emergency also. Making the decision as to whether or not your going to continue is up to you.
