    Question of the Week

It's that time again...time for a question for discussion.  And I have some other things to share.

My question for you is:  How long have you suffered from depression?  Do any of you feel that you had it as a child?  Have any of you gotten an official diagnosis of a mood disorder?  At what age did that happen?  Do you feel that your depression was triggered by an event or events in your life?

I am very curious to see how our members have experienced depression over the years.  Has it been a lifelong battle?  Did it begin early on in life or later?  Everyone is different in how their depression manifests and at what age.

I am looking for people to share their depression time line if you feel comfortable doing so.

    My Depression Time Line:

I feel I suffered from depression as a child.  I feel it was partly biological and partly due to trauma.  Every so often I felt I experienced a major episode of depression...definitely in my teens and often related to events in my life.  One of the worst episodes was in my mid twenties when I had a miscarriage.  At this time I was diagnosed with depression by a psychologist.  And after that event it seemed I was battling depression on an on-going basis.  I still suffer from depression (I am now in my mid-forties) but I feel I have a much better grasp of how to cope with depression now than I did in my twenties due to: Therapy, having children and having much more stability in my life.  And also now I know much better coping strategies to deal with my depression and I recognize my warning signs that a depressive episode is pending.

Looking to Interview Members for Upcoming Posts

Are you tired of reading all of this yet?  Sorry for being so longwinded today...just lots to share.

I would like to discuss the challenge of being in a relationship with someone who is either depressed or anxious.

I would like to ask questions of members who love a man or woman who suffers from anxiety and/or depression.  So if you are in a relationship with a partner who suffers from anxiety or depression and you would like to be interviewed, send me an email here (can be found on my profile page) and I will set you up with some questions.

    T-t-that's all folks!

Thank you as always for being a member of this site and for all that you do.  We couldn't do this without you.
