Songs to Help You Get Through Depression

Merely Me Health Guide
  • Hi all!

I have to say first of all how proud I am of this community.  We have lots of new members, shareposts, comments, and general participation.  I love it.  It is amazing thing to see how people can come together and help each other despite anyone's individual pain and suffering.

Thank you for all you do to make this a supportive community for all.

Today I thought we needed a lift in spirits.  Several of you have talked about how music helps you.  It helps me too.  Here is a song I cling onto when I am in need of a spiritual lift.

It is an oldy but a goodie!  "I Can See Clearly Now" sung by Johnny Nash.

And here are the lyrics to this song:

I can see clearly now, the rain is gone
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
It's gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
    Sun shiny day

I think I can make it now, the pain is gone
All of the bad feelings have disappeared
Here is the rainbow I've been prayin' for
It's gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
    Sun shiny day

Look all around, there's nothin' but blue skies
Look straight ahead, nothin' but blue skies

I can see clearly now, the rain is gone
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
It's gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
    Sun shiny day

I hope you can let some sunshine in today. If you have a song that helps you please share it with us.  We can all use some lyrical inspiration.

On another note...I wanted to share some links with you:

    • This week is National Suicide Prevention Week and we have been having a very candid and informative discussion which will hopefully help people to get though such a crisis.  My friend and Health Central writer, Vicki Bridges, was the one to remind me of this prevention week.  She wrote about Suicide Prevention on the Multiple Sclerosis site.  It is a very important topic for anyone who suffers from either a mental or physical illness.
    • Our Deborah Gray has been writing some really useful articles about how to get mental health care and/or medications when you lack money or insurance.  Please read these posts if you are in need of some ideas of how to get help when you don't have a lot of money.

    • I have been talking some about my experience in changing my son's medications for mood and symptoms of autism.  It has been quite the rollercoaster ride.  I share the questions we had to ask before making such a change in medication in my ADHD post, Thinking of Changing Your Child's Medications?  Our Personal Journey

    • The symptoms of anxiety can be extremely physical in nature.  If you suffer from anxiety you can experience anything from headaches to heart palpitations.  One less common symptom can be gagging.  I talk about this symptom of gagging and what you can do about it in my newest anxiety post about anxiety symptoms.

I hope everyone is surviving this day and even enjoying it.  Thank you for being a vital part of this community.
